The full range of Bonfiglioli large parallel shaft gearboxes has been extended for the Australian marketplace, ranging in size from 123Nm to 133000Nm!
Bonfiglioli’s HDP range features a housing made from spheroidal cast iron; monobloc from HDP60 to HDP120 and horizontally split HDP130 to HDP160.
The gears are casehardened alloy helicals, which have had the profile corrected for higher transmissible torques and smoother operation.
The bearings are all heavy-duty tapered rollers or high-capacity self-aligning rollers, which extend overhung load capacity.
Gear ratios increase near-linearly in a 12% progression.
Sometimes the speed of delivery is the most important requirement of customers, especially when lost production is thrown into the equation.
A big financial loss was cut off at the source when an aging David Brown reducer – which had admittedly performed flawlessly for decades – finally gave up the ghost, shutting down a major grain elevator.
All Torque worked with both the customer and Bonfiglioli to develop an immediate, sustainable replacement gearbox, one that (with a little re-engineering at the customer’s end) saw a loss of downtime of only SIX HOURS. This six hours includes product identification, sourcing, assembly, motor fitment, freighting, installation and commissioning.
Obviously, not every customer order is a breakdown and our preferred method of identifying problems is to stop them before they happen (such as having a spare unit on-site beforehand), but Bonfiglioli stepped up for the delivery on this one and our customer was extremely happy with the turnaround time.
Overload protection is arguably more important when economic times are challenging than any other. The last thing that a manufacturing firm needs is lost production due to line downtime, let alone the cash to fix broken machinery when maintenance budgets are being trimmed and net working capital is already tight.
Mechanical overload protection remains the mainstay of industry for three simple reasons; it is easy to set-up, straightforward to fine-tune and, probably most importantly, provides instant protection. Electronic systems are available, but can be overly complex for many applications and the cost of installation and commissioning is not justifiable.
Comintec S.r.l. has dedicated itself to pursuing the best way to protect machinery by designing and manufacturing world class torque limiters, pneumatic clutches and couplings. The entire Comintec range is made at its Bologna plant in Italy, with manufacturing working alongside R&D to continually develop both product specifications and the size of the range.
Comintec’s array of torque limiters (exclusively distributed in Australia by All Torque Transmissions) is large enough to accommodate shaft sizes from 6mm through to 140mm in its DSF friction limiter series. The corresponding torque range is from 1 Nm to 23,000 Nm. The DSF range comes in multiple varieties; ready for platewheel fitment, ready to machine for coupling connection as well as smaller flange versions where space is restricted.
All Torque Transmissions keeps full stocks of the DSF friction limiters, as well as DSS and DSR ball and roller detent safety couplings at its Braeside, Victoria head office. Orders are constantly placed on the factory in Italy and lead times for custom-manufactured limiters are usually under two weeks.
