Bonfiglioli’s Australian Managing Director, Malcolm Lewis, was recently on hand to represent the gearmotor manufacturer at the Australian Bulk Handling Awards for 2013. Held at Sydney’s Darling Harbour in November, the ceremony saw 15 trophies awarded for a diverse range of categories, where Bonfiglioli were an awards sponsor.
The Bulk Handling Awards are conducted every year by Australian Bulk Handling Review magazine.
For 2013, the award for Excellence in the Application of Gears, Motors or Drives saw the finalists comprising:
- ABB
- Bonfiglioli and Ellton Group
- Fortescue Metals Group and Metso Mining and Construction
- SEW-Eurodrive
- Svendborg Brakes Australia
The eventual winner was Fortescue Metals Group and Metso Mining and Construction, for the supply of their two new train unloaders.

Having won the award for Excellence in the Application of Gears, Motors or Drives previously, we’re sure that even they know that you can’t win it every year!
Other categories included Supplier of the Year, Environmental Project of the Year, Excellence in Engineering Photography, Best Practice in Work, Health and Safety, Excellence in Transport and/or Conveying, Bulk Handling Facility of the Year (Resources and Infrastructure) and Bulk Handling Facility of the Year (Manufacturing and Processing).
