Dodge’s Tigear 2 family of speed reducers features the new sealing and bushing system that has been proven to reduce total cost of ownership during gearbox life. Some of the key features of the Tigear range include:
Gear casings and bearing housings are manufactured from class 30 grey iron, whilst the unit is sealed, with no direct passage from the oil sump to the ambient atmosphere.
Worm gear geometry is highly optimised from rating and efficiency, precision manufactured with a single-enveloping design. The gear set consists of a hardened steel worm shaft, with the worm gear featuring a fine grain, copper-tin bronze which has been specially alloyed for superior durability and wear resistance.
The Dodge Tigear 2 range of wormboxes is available on request, with stock coming directly from the US.
For the second successive month, Australia has recorded a positive Performance of Manufacturing Index (PMI) result, posting an impressive 53.2.
With editorial from the Australian Industry Group characterising the gain as the manufacturing sector playing ‘catch up’, October’s result still has some sectors lagging (metals and machinery, although with incremental increases), but with surprising gains in others (printed media).
Continued buoyancy in the food and beverage sector has more than offset the reversal suffered by the non-metallic mineral products sub-sector.
Coming into the Christmas period, the PMI result is welcome news for a manufacturing industry that has been in transition for more than 36 months.

Here are some technical details of the Dodge ISN range…
The Dodge ISN bearings feature the patented IMPERIAL™ adaptor mount system that dramatically reduces installation time. The user gets a complete, shaft-ready mounted bearing. Fifteen minutes is the new standard installation time, not up to two hours as with some other bearings. Turn the nut clockwise to tighten the adaptor on the shaft. There is no need for feeler gauges to set the clearance in the bearing. The clearance is set automatically. An easy-to-attach lock plate holds the adaptor nut in place.
The Dodge ISN bearings feature a built-in bearing puller. After removing the lock plate, you turn the nut counter clockwise, pushing the bearing off the adaptor sleeve. Removing this bearing from the shaft is that simple. Removal is no longer an all day affair, and shaft damage is no longer a consequence.
While running, the ISN bearings have an outstanding sealing system that provides 100% contact at 100% constant pressure, 100% of the time. The TRIDENT™ seal is a triple-lip and a face-rubbing seal that offers an improvement over other systems. For greater protection, this patented seal provides a flinger, shielding the seal and bearing from contamination and damage. An exclusion lip that makes contact with the flinger provides an additional barrier against contaminants. Seal/land positive contact up to ±1 degree of misalignment.
For high speed or high temperature applications there is a patented Labyrinth seal option that provides excellent sealing for relatively clean or hot environments. It also offers a 15% increase in maximum speed over standard SAF adapter mounted sphericals of the same shaft size. Flinger shields the seal and bearing from contamination/damage. Seal operates up to ±1 degree of misalignment.
Available in pillow block housing style, in sizes 30 – 140mm bore (dimensionally interchangeable with the SN 500 standard [DIN 736/ISO 113]).
