Talking About Pasta

Whilst flicking through Melbourne’s Herald-Sun the other day, we stumbled upon a story highlighting the historical roots and development of Farinacci Pasta.  We just had to take a clipping and post it on our website.

IMG_0061It is always good to see our customers doing well and getting the recognition they deserve.

We have been involved with Farinacci Pasta for many years, assisting them with all of the power transmission demands that a vibrant and growing pasta manufacturer have.  Now into their third generation and second premises, we wholeheartedly recommend anyone who loves pasta (including those who can only eat gluten-free) to make their way to their shop at 662 Glen Huntly Road, Caulfield.

Their website is currently under construction.

Dodge ER Bearings Introduced

Dodge now does the ER series of wide inner ring ball bearings, available in both set screw and D-Lok varieties.  The new range allows Dodge to offer a bearing that many fitters will be familiar with, although the design specification is still increased, keeping in line with the balance of the Dodge mounted ball bearing range.

Set screw locking is available in sizes from 3/4″ to 3-7/16″ and all metric sizes in between.ER Series

D-Lok locking is available in sizes from 3/4″ to 2-7/16″ and all metric equivalents.

The Dodge ProGuard seal and flinger package that comes standard on the ER series ensures contaminants have no chance of entering the bearing, which makes this range perfect for dirty applications.  To date, these applications have included material and unit handling, conveying equipment, and paper / printing machinery.

All Torque Transmissions stocks the full range of Dodge equipment at Braeside, with bulk stocks available out of Dodge in Sydney on short notice.

Behind the Scenes at ComInTec

As the Australian distributor for ComInTec’s full range of torque limiters and overload protection devices, we are always keen to keep up with the latest from our partners in Bologna.

This five minute video gives an insight into exactly how much design and engineering knowledge goes into every ComInTec product.

It’s even good to see Fabio do his best Alfred Hitchcock impersonation with a brief cameo appearance near the end!

What are the Standard Voltages Used in Australia?

There are a variety of electric motors currently in use in Australia, all with varying AC voltages.  Many times they are application specific. WEG Front

For domestic use, the standard voltage is single phase 240 volts at 50 hertz

Standard electric motors in industry use three phase, 415 volts at 50 hertz

Also very common is 220 – 240 volts three phase, which is a three phase motor run from a single phase inverter.  This system will NOT run single phase motors and three phase motors must have six terminal studs for connection with 415 volts three phase or 240 volts three phase.Sine Wave

Many 60 hertz 220 volts / 380 volts imported motors are found running on Australian 50 hertz.  Nameplate speed on 60 hertz motors will actually be 20% less when running on Australian 50 hertz power.

Reeves Motodrives – Made in Australia

Since acquiring November Drives in 2010 and taking over manufacturing duties at Preston, All Torque Transmissions is proud to say that Reeves Motodrives continue to be made in Australia.  Not only do we do all of  the machining for our units, but we also give work to various peripheral businesses who assist in manufacturing.reeves

We have a partnership with a foundry in Melbourne’s northern suburbs for all of our cast iron parts.

We have had a long relationship with a surface technology specialist in Melbourne’s south-east, providing added value to our equipment.

We utilise local bearing suppliers and machining supply specialists for all of our sundries (although the bearings, oil seals and cutting tips are from overseas, as there is no locally-made option).

One concession to international sourcing is our variable speed belts, which are made to our standards by Gates in the United States.

Made in Australia means more than the simple sale of equipment one time; it means that our business helps other businesses.  That is why we value your business.
