All Torque Transmissions is pleased to have you visit our new (and improved) website, live from February 14, 2013.
Our original website recently celebrated its 10th birthday, so we thought is was time for an update.
Our new website redirects from www.alltorque.com.au and we will be keeping both this domain and the new www.alltorquetransmissions.com domain running.
Thank you for visiting, and we hope you check back often as we update our Resources and The Talk pages.
Sometimes somthing comes through the workshop that is so amazing that one has to wonder how equipment manages to function at all before failing. The image to the right is of a Reeves variable speed pulley, that normally has a solid ROUND shaft.
As you can see by the amount of metallic dust (that used to actually be the shaft) in the bottom of the belt casing, a fair bit of the shaft has been gradually ground down into an almost machined-finish.
Once again, I can assure you that this pulley is supposed to have a solid shaft.
The intriguing thing about this is the Reeves drive itself was still fully-functional and operational when it was returned to us for an overhaul.
The pulley is cast at a foundry in Melbourne’s north, before getting machined by us and finished by a surfacing company in Dandenong.
The inherent torque capacity and drive characteristics of Direct Current electric motors make them the perfect choice to overcome many drive issues.
We recently had an application where the customer’s existing AC motor was not delivering under load, causing problems the whole way down the line. After searching for problems all the way through the electrical side, the decision was made to convert the motor to a DC unit of the same kilowatt capacity and approximate speed.
After also changing the drive that went with it, the new Baldor DC motor has performed flawlessly.
In many instances, thinking around the problem to work through it is the most effective way to make the problem go away.
This WEG motor was fitted to a Barlow gearbox from stock in Preston. Carrying the full range of WEG motors enables All Torque to speed up the turnaround times of gearmotor orders.
We keep 2 pole, 4 pole and 6 pole units in B3, B5 and B14 mount. This ranges makes sure we aren’t kept cooling our heels waiting for a standard-size motor to come in to get a customer’s order out the door.
