WEG Diversification

WEG and All Torque Transmissions have had a long affiliation, and we’ve proudly been the distributor for the full range of WEG W21 and W22 electric motors and WEG variable speed drives for decades. It’s when we take the standard WEG product range for bespoke applications, that things start to get interesting.

Standard Products – Non-Standard Applications

We recently had an enquiry from a customer with a request to commission a standalone pair of pump drives, for a heavy duty application in an arduous environment. The drive called for two drives to be housed in the same cabinet, to provide for two separate motor power options as the site demands dictated to meet independent flow rates, as well as the whole unit being mobile.

Diversification

In order to meet the customer’s remit, we came up with a pair of class-leading WEG CFW400 drives, matched to a 7.5kW & 15kW electric motor respectively, all embedded in a full stainless steel cabinet. Working closely with WEG has enabled us to design the unit, with them assembling and commissioning, before sending to site.

WEG Product Range

One of the reasons we are pleased to represent WEG throughout Victoria, New South Wales, and Queensland, is the completeness of the WEG product range. This design is a great example, as not only does it include WEG motors and drives, but also all switches, contactors, and pushbuttons.

KBAC Variable Speed Control

Due to its user-friendly design, the KBAC is easy to install and operate. Tailoring to specific applications is accomplished with selectable jumpers and trimpots, which eliminate the computer-like programming required on other drives. However, for most applications no adjustments are necessary. For more advanced programming, PC based Drive-Link™ software is available.

KBAC Features

Main features include adjustable RMS Current Limit and I2 t Motor Overload Protection.2 In addition, Adjustable Slip Compensation with Static Auto-Tune and Boost provides high torque and excellent load regulation over a wide speed range. Power Start™ delivers over 200% motor torque to ensure startup of high frictional loads. Electronic Inrush Current Limit (EICL™) eliminates harmful AC line inrush current. A Run/Fault Relay is provided, which can be used to turn on or off equipment or to signal a warning if the drive is put into the Stop Mode or a fault has occurred. The drive is suitable for machine or variable torque (HVAC) applications. Also, a jumper is provided for selection of Regenerative or DCInjection Braking.

Standard front panel features include diagnostic LEDs for power on and drive status, a Start/Stop Switch, and a Main Speed Potentiometer. Other features include a Barrier Terminal Block to facilitate wiring of the AC line and motor, adjustable trimpots (MIN, MAX, ACCEL, DECEL, COMP, CL, JOG, BOOST), customer selectable jumpers (Line Voltage (dual voltage models only), Motor Horsepower, Automatic or Manual Start/Reset, Motor Frequency, Frequency Multiplier, Fixed/Adjustable Boost, Regenerative/Injection Braking, “Run” or “Fault” Output Relay Operation, NO/NC Stop Contact, Constant/Variable Torque, Factory Assignable Function).

Accessories

Optional accessories include: Forward-Stop-Reverse Switch, On/Off AC Line Switch, Run-Stop-Jog Switch, Signal Isolator, Auto/Manual Switch, Class “A” AC Line Filter, Multi-Speed Board,  Programming Kit, Modbus Communication Module, and Liquidtight Fittings. A connector is provided for easy installation of accessories.

All Torque Workshop

Workshop Capability

machined pulleys

Our workshop (with its full compliment of staff) is capable of handling repairs of geared motors from all manufacturers, at both Braeside and Preston.

We are also proficient in handling Warner Electric repairs and overhauls.

Braeside’s workshop features a dedicated PIV overhaul section, with all of the specialist tooling and componentry that this entails.

Our machine shop handles our own machining requirements, general machining including boring and keying, as well as extending the usability of existing power transmission equipment.

Our machine shop boasts a full range of tooling to do all of our own machining.  This has been especially useful when production breakdown demands preclude sourcing gearboxes from interstate, when there is no local stock coverage.  We have been able to make modifications to output shafts, flanges, feet and even input bores and flanges to have production back online as quickly as possible.

Power Transmission in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria

Whilst interstate travel remains off-limits, All Torque Transmissions’ branches in Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria, have all kept our doors open.

As the states continue to enforce their own varying level of lockdown, we have found that the majority of the industrial sector is still operating. Individual sectors – such as food and beverage – have even experienced a large upswing in demand.

Local Stock

The amount of freight travelling between states has increased the load on freight companies, to the point where there are delays on many shipments.

We have always kept good stockholdings at branch level, and we have strengthened this during the pandemic to help keep downtime to a minimum.
